Deep Web Fishing

Lately I've been thinking about the potential of using the internet as a means to draw unbelievers to Christ. To my surprise, I found I'm not the only one who's been thinking over these things. It turns out this is a vision God has given many people. In fact, there are several sites specifically dedicated to internet evangelism. I've listed some of the links on the right. Some are for training, others are simply great resources for anyone who wishes to witness to people in an online environment. Also, there are several blog authors who are also experiencing this same tug on their heartstrings. One in particular that comes to mind is Paul Dawn, author of Hill Country Thoughts. Paul is someone with a heart for reaching out to the outcast and to those whom many are afraid to associate with. He is also someone I'm blessed to have as a friend. In a recent comment, Paul wrote the following:

"The Lord has a lot of people in cyberspace that He wants to touch and use to reach others through writing, prayer, through e-mail... He is allowing us to take back cyberspace for Him and to cast forth His net on the internet."

How true! And the best part is, God can use any one of His people in bigger ways than we've even imagined. For instance, let's say you write a post for your blog, or a Christian site. A year later you decide that, just for fun, you should type the name of that post into Google and see what it pulls up. To your amazement, it brings up links on sites you've never heard of, and yet these people are linking to you. In denial that strangers would actually link to your stuff, you begin clicking through the Google results, checking to make absolutely sure it's you these folks have linked to. In the process, you find some great sites and click on other links from there and find a great article on just the subject you needed to hear about. In the end, God uses your thoughts to bless others, and their thoughts to bless you. Isn't God great? That said, let's take full advantage of this sea called the internet and invite God to make us (cyber)fishers of men!

Hi Brook,

Thank you so very much my friend for sharing this. It means a lot to me.

The Lord has given me a burden indeed for the internet and for those that use it to simply share the reality of the Lord Jesus Christ.

To share the simplicity of faith, that we can be real people, living in a real world, sharing a faith in a living God.

Our Father is bringing everything together and indeed the day is coming when every knee shall bow, and tongue confess He is Lord.

Blessings to you my friend, and to others who link here, to be part of a net that is being cast out into cybespace and I know that the Lord will fill the net to overflowing.

Some will water, some plant seeds and others will reap the harvest, but the awesome thing about it, is that we will be united in Christ as a many member body scatterd through out the earth.

How awesome is that. The Lord is expanding our vision and our borders in faith.

Till later my friend,

Your brother and fellow-scribe,

Paul

I'm convinced of the power of the web for evangelism. We've tried to explain strategies and showcase ideas at the
Internet Evangelism Day and Web Evangelism Guide sites, as well as focusing on how to create an
effective church site.

One thing we also try to emphasize - you do not have to be technical! And there is a big need for effective writers to understand how the web works.

Sparetime opportunities for such writing ministry are here.

Blessings

You are SO right! I cannot believe how the Lord has blessed through the internet. We hear so many negative comments about 'the web,' but the Lord has done some mighty things through the ministries on the internet.

Let's keep praising the Lord, and casting those nets!

Brooke,
Great thoughts! There's no reason the enemy has to control the internet. We serve a mighty God who can astound the enemy and us by the way He uses writers like you to evangelize, minister, and uplift others.
Thanks.
